Hello! We're so glad you're here...

About Lisa

About Vanessa

Five years ago my husband and I decided we were going to stop talking about a sea-change and ‘just do it’. We moved our family from our Melbourne home to Victoria’s beautiful Bellarine Peninsula. I left behind my professional organising business and my part-time teaching job to write full time.

It was the best decision we’ve ever made!

These days I write contemporary women’s fiction and rural romance, and have four novels published to date. My (yet to be titled!) fifth book is due out in the first half of 2018.  Feels Like Home was my first book to be print published. It went on to be an Australian bestseller, and earned me a place in Australia’s Top Ten Debut Authors of 2015.

My latest release is The Shape of Us, which you can find here.

While my journey to publication has been exciting, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing! I’m fortunate to have benefited from the wisdom and guidance of more experienced writers than myself and I’m passionate about paying this generosity forward! I love working with aspiring authors to help them achieve their dreams.

My professional background is in teaching and professional organising. I’ve studied Journalism, Professional Writing and Editing, Professional Organising and also have a Diploma of Teaching (Primary).

I’m currently published with both Pan Macmillan Australia and Harlequin Australia and am represented by Haylee Nash of The Nash Agency.

I'm a Melbourne-based author of women's fiction/romance, as well as the occasional freelance article and essay. My debut novel, The Florentine Bridge sold in a two-book deal, and was published by Harlequin MIRA Australia in January 2017. You can find it here. My second book will be released in early 2018.

Last year, I led my first week-long writing retreat in Tuscany, Italy, and I can't wait to support a new group of writers this year in Daylesford. I find so much joy in guiding, supporting and sharing my knowledge with other writers.

I love working with like-minded writers and use my skills as a Life Coach to help writers transform their writing lives and become comfortable with pursuing their writing dreams. I have a deep respect for the craft of writing and my approach to writing is one that encompasses writing (and living) mindfully.

I’m represented by Cassie Hanjian of Waxman Leavell Literary Agency.

Last year I hosted Your Creative Life, a podcast designed to inform and uplift writers. You can listen to the 60 episodes here.

Over the years, my work has been published in and I’ve been featured in magazines, newspapers and online, including publications such as Elephant Journal, The Green Parent (UK), The Huffington Post, Italy magazine, Happy Child and more.

I’ve studied Journalism, Professional Writing and Editing and am a qualified Life Coach.

What to expect from the retreat...

Expect to create in a beautiful environment, alongside an intimate group of like-minded writers in an atmosphere that allows for socialisation as well as connection. We believe that a retreat should allow for rest, relaxation, and fun, as well as support that extends far beyond the retreat stay once friendships are made.

During our five nights together you'll be creating the space to brainstorm new ideas, participate in discussion, give and receive feedback (if you choose to) and most importantly, write. This is a time for you to detach from the pressures and distractions of everyday life so you can become comfortable with your voice and with your craft.

It doesn't matter if you aren't calling yourself a writer (yet!) or if all you have right now is an idea. This retreat is open to all kinds of writers, no matter where you're at on your writing journey.

This is your chance to be supported and encouraged by two passionate and published authors of commercial fiction who can't wait to share their knowledge about writing and publishing with you.

Your time at the retreat will be dispersed between morning meditation sessions (optional), morning workshops, and free time for venturing into the township of Daylesford, exploring nearby Hepburn Springs or just relaxing. We'll be there to support and coach. We'll regroup each evening for aperitifs before dinner. We'll champion you and your work. We'll have fun. And hopefully, by the time you go home you'll have made some lifelong friends too.
